New Podcast to Highlight Seattle Jazz and Seattle Jazz Musicians

Going live October 1st will be a new podcast created by Seattle musicians Jason Parker and David Marriott Jr. that will feature a spotlight on the Seattle Jazz Scene. Here is the official press release:

JAZZ NOW SEATTLE! PODCAST TO DEBUT OCTOBER 1, 2010
New podcast dedicated to spotlighting the amazing jazz music and musicians from Seattle, WA J&J Music is proud to announce the debut of Jazz Now Seattle!, a new podcast dedicated to spotlighting the amazing jazz music and musicians in Seattle, WA. Seattle has a rich heritage and history of jazz music that has produced a vibrant and thriving scene today. There are young players blazing new trails and veteran musicians continuing the grand tradition of the music. Jazz Now Seattle! will be the definitive place to go to find out about the who’s, what’s and when’s of Seattle jazz. From big bands to bebop to free jazz to fusion, the show will cover all corners of Seattle’s jazz scene, and will include an up-to-date concert calendar to encourage listeners to go out to see and support live jazz. Jazz Now Seattle! is hosted by Jason Parker and David Marriott, Jr., both active Seattle jazz musicians. Their stature in the community will allow them unprecedented access to the best music available, and their knowledge of the scene will keep listeners informed from an insider’s perspective.

Parker is a jazz trumpet player, blogger and educator from Seattle. He’s also a 25 year radio veteran who loves to play music, talk about music and turn other folks on to great new music! He leads his own group, The Jason Parker Quartet, and also plays in many other bands around Seattle, including Water Babies and the Seattle Jazz Composers Ensemble. Marriott, Jr. is a jazz trombonist, composer/arranger, educator, and blogger. A two-time Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award recipient and winner of the 1999 National Jazz Trombone Competition, David is active in a variety of Seattle jazz groups, including the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra and his own critically-acclaimed Septology.
