One jazz film you should see before you die
Watch Shirley Clarke’s documentary on Ornette Coleman
http://www.realeyz.tv/en/shirley-clarke-ornette-made-in-america_cont2029.html
as a video on demand stream
What other films should be included on such a list?
I truly hope that the album Hornucopia by Jon Faddis makes it…
What about Stan Getz with Eddie Duran and Dee Bell. It was in the top twenty in it’s decade.
No Sonny Sharrock? Maybe you could rectify that in the next 500…
I enjoy the list, but no Art Pepper in the first 500? I hope he shows up several times in the remaining listings, as he was, and is, one of THE outstanding saxists in jazz history. Start with “Living Legend” and “Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section” and go from there. His complete Galaxy recordings boxed set is absolutely one of the greatest landmarks/compilations of improvised music ever. Give it all a listen, and you will see.
Nice list of Jazz musics, I will provide you with some of their remixes also, soon.
Thanks
You left out Gene Shaw Breakthrough, great album!
that’s a collection that i think i would die for…i thot u left out Sonny Rollin’s “A Night at the Village Vanguard” though… in the next 500 perhaps?
I’m a big John Coltrane fan. Interstellar Space and Ascenssion are also great albums. I am still shocked when I hear them.
Note from the Dutch:
impressive list
little mistake in spelling album nmbr 399: Wandering Moon – TERRANCE Blanchard (Columbia, 2000)
I am happy to say I own 48 of the first 500!
